Character Info

◎ Character's Name: Tenten
◎ Character's Canon: Naruto
◎ Character's Age: 18
◎ Canon Point: between chapters 699 and 700
◎ Background/History: Naruto wikia!
◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? Not even close to a hacker, but her Chakra (a combination of physical and spiritual energy used by ninja for techniques) can give her an almost supernatural instinct for dodging physical attacks. If that counts. But she can’t do anything like sense ghosts or anything.

◎ Personality:
Tenten’s goal is to prove herself as a strong female ninja (kunoichi) worthy of the title of ‘Legendary,’ following the example of the legendary kunoichi Tsunade. She's social and hard-working, but prone to bull-headedness and intensity. While some, her sensei included, would consider that intensity a good thing, to the majority of her classmates, teammates, and comrades would consider her to be too intense.

As a child, she decided that she wanted to be just like her hero Lady Tsunade, and set her mind to achieving that goal. However, once she discovered her skill was in sealing and using weapons, instead of brute strength or medical jutsu, she pursued that with a single-minded determination. She practices for hours on end to hone her accuracy until none can match it. Her love of weaponry can border on the obsessive, though, as she's gone so far as to ignore stated mission perimeters in search of new weapons.

Tenten can be impulsive and single-minded, from using the same technique repeatedly against an opponent even after its already been shown to fail, to shoving aside a man, despite the fact that he was on fire, just to get at a new weapon. Though she's assertive, able to fall into the role of team leader almost immediately, she can also be tempermental and quick to snap at those she thinks might not be pulling their weight. She never does anything at less than 100%, willing to give her all to protect her friends, comrades, and village.

Though she trains as hard (or harder than) most ninja, able to do pushups into the thousands or run hundreds of laps, she understands the value of relaxation. One of her favorite activities is relaxing in the onsen or going to the spa; though as a weapons mistress, she frowns upon manicures, pedicures, or anything else that might remove the hard-earned callouses on her hands and feet. When training or exercising, she's not too proud to call for a break when needed, and will often try to tone down her teammates' own intensity in favor of something more rational. She's often the vocal skeptic of the team, pointing out their absurdities and trying to bring them back to a calmer center.

When pressed, though, she can be as hot-blooded as the rest of her teammates, fierce to defend her viewpoints or techniques and prove herself to be a strong ninja in her own right. Rarely one to back down from a challenge, when Tenten's sensei told her that Tsunade was legendary for drinking saké and gambling, Tenten tried to sneak into a bar and gambling house (though she was only twelve or thirteen at the time...) She's quick to argue that women can fight just as well as men, and tries to show that through her own skill.

She has little patience for those who don't try to help themselves; if she feels like someone isn't giving their all or is just giving up, she's quick to verbally or physically lash out at them in an attempt to motivate them. If that doesn't work, she just ignores them completely as not worth her time.

She's easily one of the more upbeat and social ninja, willing to plan get-togethers for BBQ or a trip to the hot springs at a moment's notice. She's quick to help out a friend in need, and is extremely loyal when it comes down to it. After each of her teammates were defeated in battle, she was quick to support them, reassuring them and trying to encourage them to pick themselves up and keep going.

Tenten's extremely curious, willing to try new things and ask questions until she gets an answer she's satisfied with. She’s been shown to be very observant in her assessment of a situation, easily able to gauge distances and how to use terrain and situations to her advantage.

Though she’s equally at home as a leader and a follower, Tenten is hardly willing to fade into the background. When she sees a problem, she’s quick to jump in and try to solve it, whether it’s a method of training or a conversation with a senior official. Being on a team with two physically strong males, led by an instructor who prizes physical strength and skill, she feels the need to push herself to reach their level. Her motto is, through hard work and determination, “to become stronger than I was yesterday.”

◎ Powers/Abilities:
Chakra manipulation: the heart of being a ninja in the Naruto universe, Tenten possesses the ability to mold and manipulate the combination of physical, spiritual, and elemental energy known as Chakra. This energy manipulation manifests primarily as her ability to summon hundreds of weapons at a time and control them individually by use of wires or Chakra strings (“strings” of energy that permit her to manipulate the weapon even if not physically touching it), but also extends to the more general ninja skills (ninjutsu) such as walking on water, sticking to vertical surfaces, leaping higher and boosting endurance.

Weapons skill: Tenten’s motto is “one hundred shots, one hundred bulls-eyes.” When throwing, she only rarely misses her target, whether if in combat, adverse weather conditions, or from great distances. She has the natural skill of being able to quickly learn how to use any weapon from improvised knives to legendary war-fans within moments of picking it up.

Sealing skill: Using Chakra, she has the special skill of sealing hundreds of weapons and other tools within a simple scroll. All she needs is ink to channel her Chakra through to create a stylized seal, or write the name of the item within the proper markings to store it within the scroll itself. These items are sealed into an alternate dimension using a variation of space-time ninjutsu.

◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory:
1. One (1) outfit with scroll-bracelets
2. One (1) shuriken holster
3/4/5/6. Four (4) kunai
7. One (1) war fan

CEREALIA-Specific

◎ Element: Air
Though Tenten is literally one of the few Naruto main(ish) characters who doesn’t get a canon element revealed in her databook, her proficiency with distance (including such things as wind speed), as well as the slicing nature of many of her techniques (which resemble those that use the elemental nature of Wind) that I would put her down for air element.

◎ Sense: Sight
Considering that, as a ranged-weapons specialist, Tenten specializes in gauging distances and observing her enemy, sight is her most valued sense.

◎ Seven Character Traits:
+Sociable; +Strong (physically/mentally/emotionally); +Intelligent
+/-Hot-blooded/unwillingness to give up
-Blunt; -Need to prove herself; -Lack of stamina

Every team had a particular spot in Konoha that they claimed for their own, for team meetings and the like. For some it was a certain training field, for others, it was a spot on a bridge or atop a pair of trees. Unlike most everything Team Gai was known for, their meeting spot wasn't extreme. It was rather mundane, when it came down to it, just a balcony lined with cloth-covered benches for seating in a semi-circle. With four people, three on the benches and one standing, it made a complete circle. Everyone had an equal voice (though some might shout louder than strictly necessary).

Everyone had had an equal voice.

Tenten sighed quietly as she rested back against one of the seats, tilting her head back far enough to see beyond the lip of the overhang to the sky above. She could still hear the sound of carpentry, encouraging shouts from those working below to finish what they were working on before the sun set. The war had taken a heavy toll on their village, and others. Reconstruction was the primary focus. Alliance aside, no one had the time or resources to fight each other. Everyone was tired of war, of destruction and death.

Saving their entire way of life had been something all of them had been willing to give their lives for. But how many of them had thought about what they were going to do after?

Another sigh, and she leaned forward, resting her elbows against her knees as she stared at the floor. Gai-sensei in a wheelchair for who knew how long. Neji...

Before she'd known it, her entire team had been all but reduced to only two people. Hardly a proper team at all. And while normally she'd have been the center of a party -- hell, she'd be the one planning the damn thing -- being surrounded by everyone else's teams, rejoicing, joined together and unbroken, seemed like more of a challenge than she was willing to face.

There's the sound of a hammer striking metal -- a nail, maybe -- sending her flying to her feet, a hand dropping to the shuriken holster on one thigh. Her fingers gripped the cloth-wrapped handle of a kunai before her brain caught up with her reflexes, marking the sound as non-threatening. She inhaled air she didn't remember exhaling in readiness to fight, then exhaled, drawing the kunai and twirling it around one finger as if the simple motion could help relax her. And it did, to an extent.

The world might have gotten more peaceful, but that didn't mean she was about ready to let her reflexes go to waste. If she'd gotten jumpy enough that a hammer hitting a nail was enough to send her diving away from a potential enemy, then she needed to get back to training. There was no point sitting around for a team that wasn't coming, and she wasn't about to let that stop her. Maybe the world had changed, maybe the meaning of a ninja itself had changed, but that didn't mean she was about to give up her dream on being a legendary kunoichi.

Time to go hunt down Lee and work on some new techniques.
